the problem with the “13 year olds dressing grown” argument is that essentially it doesn’t matter???? a predator is a predator??? and there’s plenty of 13 year olds that were violated while wearing overalls and pigtails that’s why people get mad and bring up body policing. there are 13 year olds that were wearing jeans and a hoodie when they were raped and 13 year olds that were wearing one piece swim suits playing with their cousins when a man decided to start grooming them for sex. there are 13 year old girls in scooby doo pajamas in bed being abused. like please understand that when you start paying too much attention to what young girls are wearing and connecting that to reasons for them being preyed on you forget the young black girls that were in their sunday church dresses and other respectable clothing and were still abused. the myth of the salacious young black adolescent sashaying her fast ass around and tempting grown men is an excuse predators lean on and use black women’s internalized misogyny to enforce.
the conversation about young girls clothing can be had, but it can’t be had at the same time of “how will men look at you” because that’s some shit that had little black girls tearfully telling their mothers what happened to them and being blamed for it because of how they looked. we can talk about what’s appropriate for a young girl to wear but we can’t do it and excuse grown men that target them at the same time.
